Knit for Victory—and for the weekend—with America at Work and Play, Book No. 189!
This wartime Spool Cotton Company booklet (cover price 10¢) is written for Chadwick’s Red Heart Sweater Wool, Shetland Floss, and Knitting Worsted on Clark’s O.N.T. pins. The introduction pitches hand-knit sweaters as the nation’s work-and-play clothes. Directions are sized (often 12–20) with blocking charts. Almost every garment is knit; one design is crochet.
Featured designs include:
- Victory Girl No. 1278 (cover) – turtleneck pullover with snowflake yoke
- Best Pal No. 1279 – waffle-front all-day cardigan
- Dress Up No. 1245 – two-piece suit-dress with snowflake yoke
