Chair Sets, Book No. 223, 1945
This classic 1945 Coats & Clark booklet offers a wonderful collection of decorative chair sets (antimacassars) designed to protect and beautify upholstered furniture. With fifteen different designs ranging from elegant filet and motif patterns to textured cluster and shell stitches, these timeless pieces bring vintage charm to any room.
While originally created for chair backs and arms, many of these lovely patterns can be easily adapted today for use as table runners, tablecloths, curtain panels, or decorative accents. The booklet includes both crochet and one knitted design, giving makers a nice variety of techniques to explore.
Most patterns use J. & P. Coats or Clark’s O.N.T. Best Six Cord Mercerized Crochet in Size 30, with a few worked in Pearl Cotton.
